The Inn

Nestled on 150 mountainside acres overlooking the Battenkill Valley, the century old West Mountain Inn has been welcoming travelers with warmth and hospitality for over 30 years. The Inn offers romantic, antique filled guest rooms, mountain views, lush gardens and farm fresh dining prepared with local, seasonal ingredients. Our historic barn and spacious, private grounds are also the perfect setting for elegant Vermont country weddings, retreats and specials events.

Grab a trail map and take a hike, snow shoe or cross country ski on our 150 acres of woodland paths. Stroll through our gardens and visit our friendly alpacas. Let us set up a fly fishing lesson, or a canoe or kayak rental and spend the day on the Battenkill river. Take a bike ride along river road, watch the wildlife and coast through covered bridges. End the day with an exquisitely prepared fireside dinner in our romantic dining room.

Working directly with local, organic farms and food producers, Chef Jeff Scott prepares delicious New England fare with only the best seasonal ingredients – local farm fresh produce, free-range meats & poultry, seasonal game, Vermont artisan cheeses, home-baked breads & desserts. As long time members of the Vermont Fresh Network (a partnership of Vermont chefs, farmers and food artisans) we are dedicated to supporting local agricultural & bringing the best of Vermont’s fresh, sustainable ingredients to your table.

The Barn

The Barn at West Mountain Inn was originally built by the Rochester family in 1900 to house their imported merino sheep and dairy, furthering their desire to own a “gentleman’s farm” in the country. Still in its original state with wide-plank oak floors, aged-cedar siding, windows on all sides and a 2 ½- story open floor plan interior – the Barn was built for the ages. With the addition of a few modern amenities, the Barn has been re-imagined as the perfect romantic, rustic and elegant space to host weddings and events of all kinds.

Amie Emmons

Owner/Innkeeper

Amie grew up in the Inn that her parents, Wes & Mary Ann, started in 1978, and she took over in 2006 after her dad passed away. She never thought she would be an innkeeper, but when the time came, she found it was something she loved. After graduating from college, she lived in Washington, DC & Palo Alto, CA, but always missed the beauty of Vermont. She moved back for what she thought was a temporary stay, and 18 years later she is still here. Owen, her teenaged son, works in the Inn as well – she can only hope he'll come back to take over too!
Jeff Scott

Chef

Jeff has been the Chef at the Inn for over 17 years, providing our guests with the creative, fresh cuisine that truly is his passion. After graduating from Johnson & Whales’ culinary school, Jeff worked all over the East Coast, eventually coming to Vermont where he had a short stint as a sous-chef at the Inn many years before finally landing here for good. When Jeff isn’t in the kitchen cooking delicious food, he can be found on the mountain skiing – his other passion! True to the family nature of the Inn, all three of Jeff’s kids have worked with him in the kitchen, while his wife Christine keeps the Inn looking beautiful doing ALL of the gardening!
MaryBeth LaFlamme

Head Innkeeper

Mary Beth LaFlamme is our current Head Innkeeper, but she does so much more than innkeep! She plans parties and elopements, acts as concierge for our guests, organizes the bar for our weddings and even helps out in the kitchen in a pinch. Mary Beth first came to the Inn as a chef early in her career after graduating from the CIA. She left for a few years to have a family and has been back as innkeeper for over 15 years now. As with many of our staff, some of Mary Beth's family work here too – Kara, her daughter housekeeps & waitresses on breaks from college, while Pete, her husband works in the summer when he's not teaching middle school!
Pepper & Milo

Guest Greeters

Pepper and Milo the Guest Greeters love our guests and our guests love them! This is Pepper who has never met a person she didn’t want to greet, seen a hand that couldn’t be petting her or a leg that couldn’t be leaned on! Together, she and Milo help make the Inn feel like home!
